Budget
Where does the money come from? And go to? Our Budget.
A couple of notes on our 2014 budget:
- This is draft and can only be finalized once we have our final registrations in. It is also subject to approval by the Club. Please register as early as possible to get the discount (online registration opens on 1 October and the discount is available until 31 October), help us finalize bib numbers, and let us know just how much we have to spend for the year. The draft budget is based on the same number of registrations as last year and no increase in fees. We will update and republish the budget once final registration numbers are in and the Club has approved the budget.
- Calcutta Bib Auction revenues come from the opportunity to purchase bib 1 or bib 30 in any race. A great advantage and you get the added benefit of further supporting your race league!
- Calcutta Team Auction revenue is the 10% of the team purchases that the GDHL keeps to fund the program. More on the Calcutta here.
- Each year we hold a final dinner event for all racers, families and supporters. We try to break even on the event.
- We pay two chargebacks to the Club, one for the specific race expenses, such as gates and the race crew (Race Allocation), and the second for general Club overhead costs, which requires us to have a surplus of at least $2,500 per year. To make things easier we treat these as expense items.
- There is no charge to attend the Calcutta (one of the most entertaining events of the year) and all costs related to it are covered by our operating revenues.
- At the Calcutta and Final Dinner we have a number of prizes to give away. It's our goal to have approximately $8,000 available for this and/or capital expenses to benefit adult racing. It is yet to be determined whether we will have sponsorships to assist with this expense, so to be safe we haven't budgeted anything for sponsorship cash or "in kind" contributions. Want to sponsor the league? Know someone who could sponsor the league? Check out our Sponsorship offer.
- The GDHL is the farm team to our glorious Interclub racers who have brought home the escarpment championship for 2 years running. Operating Interclub is a job in itself and for this we have the services of Taylor Simms-Brown (better known as TSB) to thank.
