Here is more to dwell on. By the way, those of you who, like me, normally work a five day week, will be distressed to know how many of your competitors are emulating their children and skiing Fridays. (I was at the Club with a client group, but many were clearly seeking that extra edge.)
Results
Thanks to Al for pointing out that the GDHL results from race 5 were on the Club website. Congrats also to Al who chalked up his best finish (6th) of the year. Trent Winstone was 9th, Michael Pedlar 12th and Chris Fregren 15th (how long will the revelation last?). Jeff Craig and Glenn McKay chopped their rankings in half with top 20 finishes and Rob Burnes and Chris Clark were not far behind on both measures. Rob McAdam knocked 30 spots off his ranking to finish 30th and Byron Darlison gained 35 to finish 31st. Tiana Boyman (back from the beach), Ian Struthers, Ron Statler, Anne Haldimand-Tait, David and Mark Arthur and Allen Shaw were all big movers as well. We now come into the crunch time in the team competition as drops, adjustments and more come into play. Remember that showing up is half the battle. My team squeeked into the money one year when the top guns in the team ahead didn't show for the last race. Even though they might not have improved their own scores, by showing up they would have pushed our lower ranked members back and prevented us from improving our scores.
The interclub team came a close second at the Peaks last Saturday, and protected its lead to win the overall "regular season" title. This means we host the final for 2013. Al, Randy Dalton, Trent, Peter Rockandel and Margaret Isberg were among the big scorers. The 2012 final is at the Peaks next Saturday.
World Cup
Fregren's revelation may have to take a back seat to Ben Thomsen's. The guy's DH results this season were 34, 40, 32, 37, 41 and 23. Then suddenly he goes 11, 5 and 2. If he was a cyclist, WADA would be on his doorstep twice a day. If he was a basketball player, nobody would be talking about Jeremy Lin. Since he's a skier, probably more guys will be wearing pink POC helmets real soon.
Video
Thanks to Carrie for the following. The first is a compilation of favourite SL and GS tips from a bunch of coaches and racers. Don't try to think about all of them at once, but maybe something will strike the right note for you. The second has a self-explanatory title.
Fashion News
Carrie's Saturday outfit was the Posh jacket. We have seen it before in pink, but this time was black with real silver fox fur trim. Sunday was the Breakout jacket in white with the Echo pant in Warp Effect (blue on blue pattern). Trent made a statement on the men's side with his new Spyder jacket in Alpine Blue.
9 Deadly Words Used By A Woman
1) Fine - This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
2) 5 Minutes - If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
3) Nothing - This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
4) Go Ahead - This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
5) Loud Sigh - This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing)
6) That's Okay - This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
7) Thanks - A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome (I want to add in a clause here -- This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot" -- that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thankingyou at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' -- That will bring on a 'whatever'
8) Whatever - is a woman's way of saying F- YOU!
9) Don't worry about it, I got it - Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?". For the woman's response refer to #3.

Subject: Craigleith Adult Gates Program Week 7
Here is this week's first edition. I will try to get some more stuff out later.
This Weekend
We are training GS on Birches both Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 AM. The GDHL race is GS at 1 PM on Sunday and has been moved to Millenium.
Friday Training
Matt DiStefano will be coaching GS tomorrow. There is no Friday training next week, due to men's day.
Results
Still no GDHL results from the last race, but Carrie has provided a link to the speed gun results for the Super G. Apparently there was some difficulty in identifying racers, so the results may not be 100%. Many people were in the high 70's and low 80's, but TSB, who won the race, was only clocked at 72 kph.
How to Start a Fight (Encore)
My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, "I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds." I bought her a bathroom scale. And then the fight started......
See you on the weekend,
